Having visited Thailand before, we were so excited to show our son the beauty of Southeast Asia - and once again, Ruth absolutely nailed it.
The mix of relaxation, adventure and authentic local experiences was exactly what we’d hoped for, with fantastic hotels that made the trip even more special.
The moment we arrived at JW Marriott Khao Lak, we knew we were in for a treat. The resort is gorgeous, set right on a stunning beach - perfect for lazy sunny days, sea swims, and indulging in incredible Thai food.
But the real highlight? Without a doubt, Elephant Hills. Our jungle and lake safari was one of the most unforgettable experiences we’ve ever had. Our son, Luca, even declared it the best part of the holiday!
From meeting the elephants to exploring the jungle by boat, it was a magical way to get up close to nature and experience Thailand from a whole new perspective.
Another thing we loved? Eating at local restaurants. The food was phenomenal - so fresh and full of flavour - a real taste of Thailand. It felt amazing to support local businesses while we were there, and the Thai people - as always - were some of the warmest, friendliest and most genuine people we've ever met.
Our final stop was The Slate in Phuket, and it was the perfect way to round off the trip. The design is incredible, the service outstanding, and it’s in a part of Phuket that still feels authentic - far from the overly touristy areas.
Sirinat National Park is just a short walk away, the beach is stunning, and we found some brilliant local restaurants serving proper Thai dishes.
Of course, we couldn’t leave without a meal at the legendary Black Ginger. The setting? Unreal. The food? Exceptional. The kind of experience you talk about long after you get home.
Ruth has organised so many amazing trips for us over the years. I give her a brief, and she always gets it spot on. We trust her implicitly - she’s always on hand, always one step ahead and always makes things effortless.
